Diploma Information

Updates for Summer 2020 Graduation:
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the decision to postpone Summer graduation ceremonies, all diplomas for Summer 2020 graduates will be mailed to the address the degree candidate provided on their application for graduation. Diplomas will be mailed as quickly as possible once a student has all degree requirements posted and their degree has been officially conferred. These diplomas will not be available for pick up. Please refer to the Graduation Clearance Policy for more information regarding changes to diploma distribution for Summer 2020.

If a student does not receive a diploma at commencement, normally he or she may pick up the diploma at the Office of the Registrar located in General Services Complex (Room 1501) beginning the Wednesday following commencement. Diplomas requested to be mailed will normally be mailed on the Wednesday following commencement, except following a December graduation.  Diplomas will be mailed the first week of January for students who graduate in December. Diplomas not picked up or requested to be mailed within one calendar year of the graduation date printed on the diploma will be destroyed. After a diploma has been destroyed, the student is responsible for the replacement cost.

Diploma Date

All diplomas awarded in the main ceremonies each semester are printed with the same date--the date on which the last commencement ceremony occurs for that semester--regardless of when the graduate actually walked the stage. This date matches the graduation date printed on official academic transcripts.

Diplomas awarded in the following ceremonies are printed with the actual date of the ceremony:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
  • College of Dentistry
  • School of Law
  • Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy
  • College of Medicine

Duplicate Diplomas

Has your diploma become lost or damaged? The Office of the Registrar handles orders for copies of diplomas awarded in the past. Duplicate diploma information can be found on the Registrar’s website.
