Getting Your Cap & Gown
All graduates who desire to walk the stage to receive their diploma must wear the appropriate commencement attire and are required to wear the regalia for the degree that they will be earning. Any modifications to the required regalia must be approved by the TAMU Commencement Committee. At this time, only University Honors and US military veterans and service members have unique designations. Corps of Cadets and military personnel should read relevant information near the bottom of this page.
Also, discover the history and symbolism of academic regalia.
Traditionally, dress shirts, slacks, skirts, or dresses are worn under the robe with dress shoes. Women should wear sensible shoes for climbing stairs between the area used for line formation and the arena floor.
