Spring 2001 - Graduation Dates & Speakers

Commencement ceremonies for the spring semester of 2001 were held May 11-12. Four different ceremonies were conducted on these days in Reed Arena except DVM graduation as noted below.

The Office of Admissions and Records has announced the following schedule for the ceremonies:

Friday, May 11, 9:00 a.m.
Speaker: Dr. Ernest R. May, Charles Warren Professor of History, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University

  • All doctoral degrees (except DVM)
  • All master's degrees

Friday, May 11, 2:00 p.m.
Speaker: Ms. Barbara Bush, Former First Lady of the United States

  • Undergraduates in Architecture
  • Undergraduates in Education
  • Undergraduates in Liberal Arts

Friday, May 11, 7:30 p.m.
Speaker: Mr. Peter Diaz, President and General Manager, KHOU-TV, Houston

  • Undergraduates in Agriculture

Saturday, May 12, 9:00 a.m.
Speaker: The Honorable Kevin Brady, United States Congressman
