Note: The dates for future semesters are subject to change.

Five different ceremonies will probably be conducted on the commencement dates. The determination of which colleges will graduate at each ceremony is not expected until late February.

The commencement convocation speaker is usually not announced until within a month of the ceremony.

Graduation Dates & Speakers

May 2009

Commencement ceremonies for the spring semester of 2009 were held May 15-16. The ceremonies were conducted on these days in Reed Arena unless otherwise noted.

  • The Convocation and Degree-granting ceremonies were open to the public without need for tickets.

Commencement Convocation
Thursday, May 14, 5:30 p.m.
Speaker: Maj. Gen. Charles F. Bolden, Jr. (Ret. USMC)

  • Commencement ceremonies are expected to begin with a convocation that features one notable speaker. The commencement exercises at which degrees will be conferred will follow in subsequent ceremonies over a two-day period.
  • Students will not be required to wear academic regalia at the convocation ceremony, but will need to do so at the subsequent actual degree-granting exercises.
