Applying for Your Degree

Refer to Student Rule 14 for information regarding degree requirements.

All students planning to graduate at the end of the current semester may file applications for degrees online. The deadline is listed below.
 

This online application system will be accessible 24 hours a day, every day, until 11:59pm on the day before pre-registration for the next term(s) during fall or spring semesters, or the first Friday of the second summer term during the summer. After that time, students must submit a paper graduation application to the Office of the Registrar for the current term.

A diploma fee of $47.50 is assessed for each graduation application submitted by students in all colleges EXCEPT, School of Dentistry, Irma Lerma Rangel School of Pharmacy, School of Medicine, School of Nursing, and School of Public Health (which are assessed a $100 graduation fee).

Students who are permitted to apply after the initial deadline (see academic calendar) will be charged an additional $50 late application fee per degree.

Spring 2023

All students planning to graduate in spring 2023 must apply for graduation online at https://howdy.tamu.edu beginning January 4, 2023 on the My Record tab. Graduation applications submitted after Friday, February 17, 2023 will be assessed a late fee EXCEPT School of Dentistry, Irma Lerma Rangel School of Pharmacy, School of Medicine, School of Nursing, and School of Public Health. The online application will be open through 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2023. Students who apply to graduate with a degree after this deadline must be enrolled in or have completed all degree requirements and must submit a paper graduation application to the Office of the Registrar. Any courses used for Spring 2023 degree clearance must be in-progress for the Spring 2023 term or completed in an earlier term. The final application deadline is Tuesday, May 2, 2023 for students who will complete requirements in the Spring semester.
 
Graduation applications will not be accepted after 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2023. If you miss this deadline, you must apply for Summer 2023 graduation.
 
Per Student Rule 14.2, degree candidates must be enrolled in or have completed all degree requirements by 5 p.m. April 18, 2023 either in residence at Texas A&M University or at another college or university. Degree Requirement Verification in courses at other institutions must be provided to the Degree Audit Office by April 18, 2023 to graduate in Spring 2023.

Students requesting a name change for graduation related purposes must complete a name change request before April 18, 2023 for the change to be reflected in the commencement program. Students have until May 10, 2023 to submit a name change to be reflected on the diploma.

 

Summer 2023

Students planning to graduate in Summer 2023 may begin filing applications for degrees on May 17, 2023. The filing deadline for students completing degree requirements during the Summer 2023 term is July 7, 2023.

Attendance at the graduation ceremony is based on the information included in your graduation application. Degree candidates who would like to change their attendance for graduation may send an email to graduation@tamu.edu from their official TAMU email account.
