General Inquiry
  • Although the length of each ceremony varies with the number of graduates, it is best to plan for up to three hours. Although visitors may leave the viewing area at any time, graduating students and their guests are requested to respect the other graduates by staying during the entire ceremony. For more information, please visit http://graduation.tamu.edu/Guests#0-CeremonyLength.
  • Graduates, Family, and Guests are typically dressed in business or business casual attire. Graduates are required to wear the appropriate regalia and shoes in order to participate in the ceremony. 
  • Reed Arena is located on the campus of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. The arena is situated on the west side of the university campus, just off George Bush Drive on the corner of Olsen and Kimbrough Boulevards. Reed Arena’s parking can be accessed from Kimbrough Boulevard, Chandler Drive and Penberthy. For directions and additional location details, view the Campus Map

Student Information
  • All students are required to apply for their degree in order to receive their diploma. The application rule and process may be found on the Apply for Your Degree page of the graduation website.
  • All graduates who participate in the ceremony must wear the appropriate commencement attire and are required to wear the TAMU regalia for the degree they will be awarded. Please review the Regalia: Cap & Gown page of the graduation website for additional information.
  • There is no advance rehearsal unless you have requested a special accommodation or otherwise noted for a specific commencement ceremony on the Graduation Schedule page. 
  • No, students will receive their diploma via mail after the ceremony if they submitted their graduation application on time, have met all degree requirements, and have cleared any financial obligations owed to the university. These students who pass the initial clearance can expect their diploma to ship two to three weeks after graduation. Students who clear after the initial clearance and before the final clearance deadline can expect their diploma to ship approximately two to three weeks after they clear and their degree is awarded. An email with tracking information will be sent to the graduate’s TAMU email account once the diploma ships.
  • Yes. Degree candidates needing disability accommodations in order to participate in one of the main campus ceremonies located on the Texas A&M University College Station campus should contact Mary Beth Graham via email (graduation@tamu.edu) or phone 979-845-1059 by Monday of the week before graduation. For additional information, please refer to the Disability Accommodations section of our website.
  • Congratulations! Yes, those graduating with honors will be acknowledged at commencement by gold-colored honor stoles. Stoles for honor graduates will be distributed during check-in before graduation. Additional information may be found on the Graduating with Honors page of the graduation website.
  • Reed Arena - Degree candidates are asked to arrive between 3:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. before their ceremony begins. Check-in will take place at the North Entry of Reed Arena. Those that have not checked in by 4:30 p.m. will be marked as absent and not announced in the ceremony.
  • Wondering where to go for graduation? Line formation? Graduates should enter through the north entrance of Reed Arena. Please visit our Line Formation page for graduation day details for the graduate. 
  • Graduating students are requested to respect their fellow graduates by staying for the duration of the ceremony.

Guest Information
  • Guest tickets will not be required for August 2022 commencement. Seats will be available on a first come first serve basis.
  • Graduates, Family, and Guests are typically dressed in business or business casual attire. Graduates are required to wear regalia and shoes in order to participate in the ceremony.
  • The doors to Reed Arena will be opened for guests at least one hour before the start of each ceremony. 
  • clear bag policy will be enforced, no outside food and beverages, no alcohol or tobacco products, no noise makers/air horns, no pets, no tripods or monopods. A full list of Reed Arena Building Policies may be found on their website.
  • Reed Arena is fully equipped for ADA needs. Wheelchair space and seating for mobility-impaired guests are both available on a first-come first-serve basis. The top three rows in each section are reserved for mobility impaired guests.  Most of these reserved areas can accommodate wheelchair seating. Up to four family members/attendants per mobility impaired patron is permitted to sit in the reserved areas. Enter at the main entrance, and an usher will be able to direct you to the appropriate seating area. Designated reserved sections for hearing and visually impaired guests can be found in Section 104, Rows A and B, Seats 1-4. Sign interpretation for graduates or guests will be provided for the university commencement ceremonies. Hearing assistance devices are available in Guest Services, across from Section 113, near the main entrance.   • Yes! Commercial photographers will take pictures of all degree candidates as they cross the stage. For additional information regarding photography at graduation, please refer to the Capturing the Moment section of our website.
  • Flash Photography is the official commencement photographer. Graduates will be photographed two times and proofs will be emailed and mailed to each graduate the week after the ceremony. If you have any questions, please contact the photographer directly via their website at www.FlashPhotography.com.
  • Texas A&M's television station, KAMU-TV, will record each of the ceremonies on DVD or blu-ray disk. Video orders may be placed on the day of graduation by the North Entry in the Main Concourse of Reed Arena. Additionally, orders may be placed before or after the ceremonies by submitting your order through the TAMU purchasing system Market Place or by calling KAMU at (979) 845-5611. Please indicate for which ceremony you would like the video, the address to which the video is to be sent, and a check payable to "KAMU Television."
